DRAMA

The Drama courses are designed to introduce students to Acting, Theatre History and Performance. Through various processes, an understanding of the historical evolution of theatre and its importance to our modern lives, a beginning knowledge of techniques and terms for performing on the stage and an introductory knowledge of design and the technical aspects of theatre production will be introduced.

Four to five productions a year feature a variety of playwrights and formats, including one-acts and musicals. More theatre opportunities are available through Thespians and the weekly Improv Club (see "CHS Clubs"). For more information, contact Jane Ferguson at jeferguson@pps.k12.or.us. CHORAL/VOCAL MUSIC

Singers in each choral group study basic musicianship skills including ear training, sight singing, and vocal technique. Increased attention is given to the study of the history and theory of music, music of multi-cultures, and the place of music in our society. Music is chosen at various levels of difficulty and songs are sung in many languages. The goal is to introduce high school students to the pleasures of singing choral literature of many types, to teach them about balance and blending of voice parts, and to develop good musicianship skills in preparation for future music participation at more advanced levels.
