4 Year Planning

8th, 9th and 10th grade students may indicate their intent to be part of the IB program by completing the "IB Interest Survey" form and submitting it to the IB Coordinator (click here to download form).

8th Grade
Fall  
Winter

Attend Cleveland's Family Information Night ("Bridging the Gap") to learn about Cleveland and IB.

Attend mandatory IB meeting, complete forms and apply to the program. Develop tentative 4-year plan.

Spring Forecast for freshman classes, including a second language study and Geometry if you are interested in the IB full diploma or IB Math or World Language. (Students entering into Algebra 1-2 may take Geometry during the summer between 9th and 10th grade.)
Summer  

9th Grade
Fall Enjoy freshman year, develop good study habits, make sure you're taking appropriate freshman pre-IB classes.
Winter

 

Spring When forecasting for next year's classes, make sure you are enrolled in Government/Economics, Algebra 3-4 or higher-level math, and the French 3-4, German 3-4, Mandarin Chinese 3-4 or Spanish 3-4 H or 5-6 H. These prerequisites apply to full diploma students and those interested in IB History, Math, or World Language Certificates respectively.
Summer If needed, take summer school to accelerate in foreign language or math.

10th Grade
Fall Verify that your schedule allows you to meet PPS and IB requirements
Winter

Meet with IB Coordinator to develop a 2-year IB plan.

Spring

File IB plan with IB Office.

Review plan with IB Coordinator and counselor.

Obtain any needed teacher recommendations before forecasting.

Attend CAS meeting for Diploma candidates (late May/early June).

Summer

Maintain a CAS log and journal, and don’t forget the adult evaluation.

Complete summer reading assignment for IB English.

Complete summer reading assignment for IB History of the Americas.


11th Grade
Fall

Attend IB Exam Registration Meeting.

Register for no more than 2 exams by mid-October (exact date tba).

Winter

Complete Internal Assessments in IB classes.

Spring

ttend Extended Essay meetings. Topic, research question, bibliography and outline due BEFORE school ends.

Turn in two copies of World Lit papers.

Attend MANDATORY exam preparation meeting. IB exams for 3 weeks in May.

Summer

Ongoing CAS work. At least 75 hours of CAS should be completed.

Complete summer reading assignment for IB English.

Work on Extended Essay.

IB scores from Spring exams available on the web July 6th.


12th Grade
Fall

Attend IB Exam Registration Meeting.

Submit rough draft of Extended Essay

Register for exams by mid-October (exact date tba).

Winter

2 copies of the Extended Essay are due in the IB Office by mid-December (exact date tba).

Complete Internal Assessments in IB classes.

Spring

All CAS activities must be finished and CAS log, journal, and evaluations completed before Spring Break.

TOK and World Literature Papers sent to external examiners.All Internal Assessments completed by April 1st.

Attend MANDATORY exam preparation meeting. IB exams for 3 weeks in May.

Notify IB office of college to receive IB scores.

GRADUATE!
