How to Apply to CHS

The high school transfer application deadline for the 2010-2011 school year has now passed.

For the 2011-2012 school year, check back in January 2011 for the transfer application start date.

Eighth grade students living within the attendance area of Cleveland High School and attending a Portland Public School will be automatically enrolled at Cleveland for the following year. Approximately 15% of the Cleveland student population do not reside in the attendance area but transfer in. For those wishing to transfer in to Cleveland, please visit the School Choice page on the Portland Public Schools website.

NOTE: As of January 2010, the district will no longer designate transfer slots for specific school-based programs (such as Cleveland's International Baccalaureate or Business Focus Option) as part of the 2010 lottery. Students who do not live in the Cleveland attendance area and who wish to transfer to Cleveland High School will need to complete the PPS lottery form and apply for the "regular program". Once students are selected by the lottery to attend Cleveland, they may then forecast for pre-IB and/or Business Focus Option classes.

No longer is attendance at any informational IB or Business Focus Option meeting mandatory. Parents and students are invited to attend an informational meeting on either program on Thursday, Feb. 4 following the Bridging the Gap Open House which begins at 7 p.m., or on Wednesday, March 3 at 8:30 a.m.

District Transfer Deadline: February 26, 2010.

Bridging The Gap

Thursday February 4, 2010
7 p.m. in the CHS Auditorium

Come to this annual Cleveland Open House where you will learn about "bridging the gap" between 8th grade and High School.

Meet CHS teachers, students and parents; hear about class offerings, student activities and resources, as well as extracurricular athletics and student organizations; follow student-led tours; and attend informational meetings about the IB program and the Business Focus Option. This is a once-a-year event. We look forward to seeing you there!
